Short Guide To A
Happy Life
by Anna
Quindlen. A Happiness
Self Help Book Review
Just as the title suggests, this book is a short, practical guide on
how to have a happy life that is consistent with the latest scientific
research. The book is taken from a commencement speech Anna gave, so it
is very short and a very quick and easy read. Yet, in a 45 minute
speech, Anna Quindlen gets right to the essence of a happy life as she
tells her story and what made a difference for her.
The book is practical, inspiring, and completely consistent with the
research on what makes people happy, but Anna Quindlen does not go into
any
of that. She just tells her story and uses that experience to show what
worked for her and what could work for you.
The heart of a Short Guide to a Happy Life is
the importance of appreciating the
relationships you have. The link between lots of good
relationships with other people and happiness is so strong that
scientists can not determine whether happiness is on some level a
requirement for good relationships or good relationships cause
happiness.
Whether you are just starting your journey into a happier life, or
looking for a quick pick up when you are down, this book is well worth
a small investment of you time.
It is also available in an Audio Book
read by the author. Anna Quindlen is an engaging speaker and the whole
book fits within a day’s commute for many of us or a good work out.
