Happy Life Tip of the Week, Issue #095-They Will Make You January 12, 2011 |
Make good habits and they will make you happy for life.Hello Friends, Marci Shimoff wrote a wonderful book called Happy for No Reason where she proposes a scale going from unhappy, to happy for bad reason, happy for good reason, and finally happy for no reason. This scale is consistent with the new science of happiness which shows that happy feelings from circumstances do not last. We all come back to a happiness set point, which accounts for about 50% of our total happiness level. The good news is that we can raise our happiness set point by developing happy habits of thought and deed. As Charles Givens suggests, developing happy habits can be as simple as repeating happy strategies every time you feel your mood sag. Again, this advice is reinforced by recent scientific research. The researchers and authors of the book Influencer, the Power to Change Anything agree. Identifying the key behaviors that make someone happy and turning them into habits will make you happier.
