Happy Life Tip of the Week, Issue #025- Drive with the Windows Open
September 02, 2009
Hello

Drive with the Windows Open to Experience Happiness Now

In the name of God, stop a moment, cease your work, look around you.

Leo Tolstoy

Have you noticed how we all tend to go through our lives in our own bubbles? We are absorbed in our work, our thoughts, our pain, our hopes and dreams. We screen out the world so we can focus better on our world. Driving in traffic brings this home the most to me- all those people in their cars focused on the road ahead and not even seeing the people in the other cars.

When I open my windows, it is harder to ignore the world around me. The wind reminds me of my senses. I start to appreciate the sunshine, the beauty of the scenery, and the feel of the air against my skin. It brings me back to the moment- which is often much nicer than my fears or concerns.

As many famous thinkers remind us , happiness happens from moment to moment. It is often inspired by nature or beauty. Often all we need to improve our mood is to stop a moment, cease our work and look around us for just a moment.
