September 07, 2011
Hello Friends,

Celebrate success to build strength and positive self esteem for your happy life.

Celebrate your success and stand strong when adversity hits, for when the storm clouds come in, the eagles soar while the small birds take cover.

Hello Friends,

Do you ever feel like life is like a long slog through the mud? That is certainly how I felt when I sat down to write this newsletter. My setbacks were fresh in my mind and my dreams seemed far, far away.

As I reflected on those setbacks, I realized that they did not tell the whole story. During that same time period, I had actually succeeded more than I had failed. I had become so focused on overcoming the setbacks and how far I had to go, I had lost sight of how far I had come. I saw a knee injury that was not fully healed, not the 80% improvement, the ability to avoid surgery, or the ability to fully recover with time and physical therapy. I saw the repairs yet to be done, not the ones I had finished.

I had failed to celebrate my successes sufficiently to sustain myself through my adversity.

From the business world to families and marriages, scientists have found that it takes at least 3 positive thoughts, statements, or interactions to counteract each negative one. If we are going to sustain our own motivation, self-esteem, and joy, we need to appreciate every positive step fully.

One way to amplify your success celebrations is through the use of powerful happy words. Just spending a little time each day building your vocabulary of happy words can lift your spirits.

Another way is to surround yourself with positive quotes and thoughts. When our own positivity is lagging, we can borrow someone else’s to help push us over the magic 3 to 1 ratio of positive to negative interactions. And remember, as you boost your mood, you help boost the mood of everyone around you.

So remember,

Celebrate success to build strength and positive self esteem for your happy life.
