Happy Life Tip of the Week, Issue #051- Purpose of Life March 17, 2010 |
HelloCelebrate your successes more for a happy life.We all succeed every day. We survive the day. We do kind things. We do things we are good at. We do things consciously and on purpose. Yet most of us never acknowledge the thousands of things we do right, we only notice the things we do that are less than perfect. If you have ever replayed a conversation in your head with all the things you wished you did differently, you know exactly what I mean. Just like children, we need love and encouragement every day. When we acknowledge our own successes more often than we acknowledge our failures we build self esteem and a sense of security and joy. In the book Learned Optimism , Dr Seligman defines optimism as the tendency to attribute permanent reasons to our success and temporary reasons to our failures. What better way to build the habit of optimism than by celebrating your success. Often the celebration can be as simple as just noticing that you succeeded or did something good and right, but there are lots of healthy ways to celebrate. We would like to celebrate a success here at Happy Life University. This issue marks our first full year of the Happy Life Tip of the Week! Thanks to all of you, we have grown seven fold over the year! To help us celebrate, please spend a moment telling us what you like most about the Tip of the Week and what would make it even better for you by taking our survey >>.
